Susannah divides her practice between the areas of real property law: including conveyancing, land development, and litigation; and family law: including divorce, property division, parenting arrangements, spousal and child support applications, and separation agreements.
Susannah has over 15 years’ experience assisting clients with a range of land development projects, from small single-family subdivisions to large master planned mixed-use communities. She simplifies and streamlines the legal aspects of land assembly, rezoning, development permit, strata subdivision and project sales matters, so that her clients can focus on realizing their development vision. Susannah’s broad experience allows her to foresee and advise on challenges at all stages of a development project, from start to finish. This assistance can include such items as:
- negotiating subject clauses in purchase contracts;
- assisting with construction financing;
- filing disclosure statements for strata property sales;
- entering into crane overswing and construction access agreements with neighbouring property owners;
- preparing and registering legal documents required by municipal governments;
- registering subdivision and strata subdivision plans; and
- assisting with strata property sales.
In addition to land development, Susannah’s real estate law experience also includes real property conveyancing and financing. She assists clients to buy, sell and mortgage homes and commercial properties, with a focus on making the process clear and easy so that her clients are prepared and know what to expect at every stage of each transaction.
Susannah also maintains a busy family law practice, offering a full range of family law services. Her experience includes preparation and negotiation of separation and parenting agreements, divorce applications, assistance with property division and family relocation applications, negotiation of parenting arrangements, and assistance with spousal and child support applications in both the Provincial Court and the BC Supreme Court. She effectively advocates for her clients’ interests whether that is through litigation in court, or outside of court, through negotiation and alternative dispute resolution.
Susannah Blary began her legal career working as a legal assistant and paralegal for over 15 years before deciding to return to university to become a lawyer. She obtained her J.D. from the Peter A. Allard School of Law and subsequently completed her articles at Dentons, a large international law firm.
After completing her articles, Susannah was called to the bar and joined the Real Estate Group at Dentons as an associate. Her practice at Dentons focused on all aspects of commercial real estate, including acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, financing, land development and litigation and dispute resolution.
Susannah is passionate about helping clients understand complex legal matters so that they can make the decisions that are right for them. She focuses on working in partnership with her clients to find practical solutions to their legal challenges.
