Sukhjit was born and raised in Surrey, BC. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2017 from the University of British Columbia. In her undergrad, she majored in Sociology and minored in Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice studies. She attended law school at the University of Victoria and received her Juris Doctor in 2022.

During her time at law school, Sukhjit volunteered with the South Asian Legal Clinic of BC, developing resources for the public on child protection laws in BC.
