Sukhjit was born and raised in Surrey, BC. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2017 from the University of British Columbia. In her undergrad, she majored in Sociology and minored in Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice studies. She attended law school at the University of Victoria and received her Juris Doctor in 2022.
During her time at law school, Sukhjit volunteered with the South Asian Legal Clinic of BC, developing resources for the public on child protection laws in BC. She also spent a semester working at the Law Centre, a legal clinic in Victoria that provides free legal services to clients in the areas of family, employment, residential tenancy, human rights and criminal law.
After working as a summer student and completing her articles at Dentons Canada LLP, the largest law firm in the world, Sukhjit decided to join Henderson Heinrichs LLP to focus her practice solely on family law.
Sukhjit’s court experience includes appearing in BC Provincial Court and BC Supreme Court. She has also successfully aided clients outside of court through settlement agreements and mediation. Sukhjit is a determined litigator who works closely with her clients to achieve their goals.
Sukhjit is passionate about giving back to the community and regularly volunteers with the Sikh Community Kitchen, an organization she helped establish, that serves food to the community of the downtown eastside.
Sukhjit is fluent in Punjabi.
